LISTEN
LISTEN is a collection of creative explorations on the possibilities in bringing audible music into visible experiences. Volume I. A Visible Experience of Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 is an attempt to translate the conceptual construction of the Adagietto movement from Mahler’s Fifth Symphony into a physical experience. The aim is not to visualize musical notations, but rather its structure, atmosphere, and philosophical ideologies referenced during Mahler’s composition. The book is complex in form but simple in content, pushing the focus onto the physical gestures of flipping and attempts to navigate. It is perhaps also a one-time experience, as once the book is fully opened, it becomes rather difficult to revert to its original arrangement without conscious efforts to understand its anatomy.
